1) TAKE YOUR TIME: Don't be a hurry to be fully recovered.
Remember that full recovery takes time.
2) BE HEALTH CONSCIOUS: Healthy eating is very important. Ensure that your body has plenty of energy to manage daily living,
by eating heathily and getting plenty of sleep.
3)SET REALISTIC GOALS:Â Both Short term and long-term goals.Â
Don't give up! Have a determined spirit and you will get there!
4) REMEMBER YOUR PURPOSE:Â Utilise the gifts you have and know that your talents will draw you closer to your purpose in life. InÂ
other words, one person can still make a difference in theirÂ
limited capacity and still bring joy to people who may be hurting and feeling low about themselves.
5) BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE:Â Realising your potential is important
as your inner belief is key in achieving your goals. Try to judge your progress based on how you felt at your lowest point, not how you were before ilness struck.Â
6) BEWARE OFÂ SOCIAL ISOLATION: If you avoid socialising ,then your self esteem will surely drop. Negative thoughts will start to emerge. Keep in touch with family and friends.
7) LOOK AFTER YOUR MENTAL HEALTH : Be aware of your own body and any symptoms that might indicate stress like problems with blood pressure. When you recognise stress, try to find activities that will help reduce your negative emotions. Cognitive therapy can help with this as you discover how to replace negativity with positive thoughts.
8) BE CALM AND REASSURING:Â If your a carer you need to be calm even in the midst of intense negativity. Try to diffuse anger, its a natural emotion after suffering adversity- its important to acknowledge and not supress it. However if anger persist, please talk to someone.
9)SEEK PROFESSIONAL ADVICE:Â Professional help is sometimes necessary. Never feel ashamed or believe your somehow a failure.Â
10) KNOW YOUR OPTIONS : There are a number of agencies that help you on your journey. Including us! Get connected or contact your GP or local mental health services.
